A BRIEF BACKGROUND OF BRAZIER SCAFFOLDING LTD


Brazier Scaffolding Ltd was established in 1973 by Mr Colin Brazier who is a current Director.

Mr Brazier has been a practicing scaffolder for 45 years and currently holds all scaffolding and suspended stages certificates required by law in New Zealand.

Head Office is in Invercargill and Director/CEO Mr Shane Brazier is a current ticket holder and has been in the industry for 25 years, with two years working in England. He is also a qualified assessor for the BCITO.

Invercargill Branch Manager is Director, Mr Glen Brazier and a current holder of tickets in scaffolding and suspended stages. Glen has been manager for ten years and is a diesel mechanic by trade.

Queenstown Branch Manager is Mr Karl Dunne who has 22 years experience in the scaffolding industry all of which was under taken in England. Karl has been manager of the Queenstown operation for four years.

Dunedin Branch Manager is Mr Jason McCormack. Jason has vast knowledge of the scaffolding industry and has recently been appointed from the North Island. Jason has completed his first year with the company

Christchurch Branch Manager is Mr Paul Faithfull who is a qualified BCITO tutor of the scaffolding core generic unit standards as required for the current OSH Certificate of Competence. Christchurch also operates depots in Greymouth on the West Coast with equipment and staff available to service the coast and in the last year has also opened an operation in the Nelson area.

Health and Safety is a very important part of the organization and currently employs a full time Health and Safety supervisor. Mr Robert Gibson who has 30 years scaffolding experience throughout the major construction sites in New Zealand. Robert is qualified assessor for the scaffolding industry. Robert has been with the company for 22 years. We have just recently picked up a Health and Safety award at The New Zealand Workplace Health & Safety Awards.

Brazier Scaffolding Ltd currently employs 80 staff. We have 40 certified scaffolders and 4 ticketed riggers. All our scaffolders and riggers are experienced in all facets of scaffolding and rigging. All staff are given regular tuition in all aspects of any changes in the scaffolding industry.

Brazier Scaffolding Ltd has recently qualified for the ACC WSMP and we currently hold the status of secondary. Our goal in the next year is to qualify for tertiary status.

Fortnightly tool box meetings with all staff are compulsory and there input into this is a benefit to the company and out clients.

Brazier Scaffolding Ltd is New Zealand Immigration Service Accredited to help our cause due to an industry shortage of qualified scaffolders in our industry. This has been very effective for us.

Brazier Scaffolding Ltd was the first company in the South Island to implement the Aculog Scaffold Safety Management System.

Our group of companies are members of the Scaffolding and Rigging New Zealand Association to whom we were a founding member and currently Shane Brazier is an Executive Board Member of SARNZ.

This company prides itself on being able to provide our clients with the correct equipment for the job and meeting all DOL requirements promptly and efficiently and at a economical rate to suit the individual projects budget, From large construction projects incorporating scaffolding and propping to residential housing.
